In the last newsletter we discussed purging and donating your stash, and as always, y'all responded with great ideas. Read on for tips from your fellow stitchers:
"How do I handle stash overflow? I am a member of a cross-stitch forum and another member collects donations of floss, fabric and charts to forward to a ladies' group in Sri Lanka. It helps those women make items to sell to support their families."
-- Eva E.
"I cross stitch and crochet. I put all of my scrap yarn and floss in a gallon zip-lock bag; when it is full, I take it to the elementary, middle or high school. This way, it gets used up and kids get to have fun too." -- Angel B.
"I do not throw away any type of fiber! I have a super-large wastebasket with a pop-on lid that has a hole about the size of a large grapefruit. Any sort of fiber, be it yarn, thread or fabric scraps, goes into it until it is packed full to the top. Then I use the whole container full of stuff to fill a round or square floor pillow for my grandkids or their friends. My favorite fabric to use for making these pillows is the denim from everyone's thrown-out blue jeans." -- Judy H.
