Beads, Buttons & Baubles

These can be the biggest challenge in storing supplies, but that challenge can also open up a world of possibilities and options.

  1. Plastic Containers. For beads, buttons, charms, etc., I use a lot of small containers to keep them organized and less likely to wind up on my floor or in my vacuum. My collection of these small containers is vast and includes some of my mom's old (almost vintage now) Tupperware containers. And as much as I love using all of these, I am slowing transitioning to more streamlined containers that stack more neatly and can nest when not in use. My new favorites are Twisterz™ Jars, which are available here. The jars come in four different sizes -- small/short, small/tall, large/short and large/tall -- and jars with the same size lids will stack together neatly and securely, which I love.
  2. Antique Tins. I have several of these that I use for storing larger small items. Some of their closures aren't quite as secure as containers, but the larger things, such as buttons or pony beads, are much easier to pick up if they are dropped.
  3. Compartmentalized Tackle Boxes and Containers. Several stitcher friends of mine swear by these. They keep the items securely locked away and separated, so they do dual duty.
