Stitched by 11-year-old French-born Henriette Barrat, this simple marking sampler is incredibly tiny, measuring only 6" x 4 3/4". Even so, in this small space young Henriette was able to fit a full alphabet, numerals, a trio of borders and four motifs common to European samplers. The reproduction is a slightly larger version worked on 36-count linen.
