When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping. That's my motto. After a frustrating day ripping out cross stitches (I was one square off on a project, which drives me crazy), I found myself roaming the aisles of a craft store. An end-of-aisle display instantly improved my mood.
Weeks Dye Works has introduced a Holiday Collection with a shade dubbed confetti. As the Weeks label says, the company specializes in "hand over dyed fibers." If you are familiar with these threads, you know that some of them have gradual, subtle shifts in color, while others have shifts that are well-defined. Confetti is one of the latter.
Another newcomer to my mailbox was a set of new shades of Kreinik Metallics Fine Braids #8. The third new product is a ColorScope Color Selector. Full disclosure: I borrowed this new product from the Crochet World staff who use it to select yarn colors. You can view a video about how it works by going to AnniesCraftStore.com and searching for "ColorScope." I found that the ColorScope is useful for finding shades of cross-stitch threads that complement one another.
When I saw the bright colors in the confetti floss and the glistening new shades of Kreinik Metallics, visions of sugar plums danced in my head -- as they always do, being someone who loves to make Christmas ornaments all year long!
